User to submit and edit multiple responses#19

?

We are using forms to collect feedback on testing. We need to allow users to submit multiple forms with the ability to edit previous responses as items addressed or additional detail provided for existing responses

We would like to use Forms for Confluence as a replacement for project management plan (PMP) documents. Our PMs would complete the form over time as project details become available, rather than in a single session.

To support this use case, users need the ability to:

Save a partially completed form and return later.
Reopen and edit previously submitted responses.
Maintain a single record that evolves throughout the project lifecycle.

This capability would help organizations use Forms for controlled project documentation, not just one-time feedback collection. It would also support compliance-driven environments where required fields and template structure must be maintained while allowing project managers to update information as the project progresses.

Hi Latonya,

Thank you for sharing this use case. Here’s how Forms maps to what you need today:
Available today

  • Editing a previously submitted response is supported. When an admin enables editing in the form settings, a responder can reload their submission on the page and update it, so a single record can be kept accurate and up to date over time, rather than creating a new entry each time.

On our roadmap

  • Inline editing directly in the response table and Homepage, admin-side editing, and a change audit trail (“changed by” history) are planned but not yet released. These are the capabilities that will fully support a single record evolving across a project lifecycle, including compliance scenarios where template structure and required fields must be preserved while information is updated over time.
You can find more information on our public roadmap, available through MPAC.https://cdn.sanity.io/files/b5fgx0yb/production/136965f45fd634825169a2c65ee0c52439200422.pdf

We’ll look into this:

-Saving a partially completed form as a draft to resume later isn’t supported today. It’s a valuable scenario, though, and we’ll explore it as a potential future capability. In the meantime, as a workaround, a response can be submitted and then reopened and edited as more details become available (using the edit-response capability above), giving a similar “fill in over time” outcome without a formal draft state.

I’d be happy to walk you through the edit-response setup and keep you posted as the audit and inline-editing work progresses. Would a short call be useful?

Best,

Svitlana
